2001 NLDS g2: Cardinals at D-Backs

I was digging through a box of old cd’s and stuff the other day and I found a copy of my Strat-O-Matic Computer version 7.0 with the 2001 roster. The floppy disc was there, too.

After asking around for a couple days, I found someone with a USB Floppy Drive I could borrow. Plugged it in, and to my amazement, the disc worked.

For the heck of it, I decided to setup a replay of the 2001 Major League Baseball Playoffs.

Mike Matheny hits a 2-out 9th inning HR to tie game, but D-Backs rally in bottom of the 9th to tie the series up at 1 game apiece

My favorite part of the game story in the boxscore above is the quote from Randy Johnson. Can you seriously believe that Randy Johnson would have had that “aww shucks, just glad we won” attitude after giving up a game-tying 2-run home run to Mike Matheny with two outs in the 9th of a playoff game? Yeah, me neither.

Here are the standings after after each team has played at least one game:

Astros lead Braves 1-0
Cardinals tied with Diamondbacks 1-1

A’s lead Yankees 1-0
Mariners lead Indians 1-0
