We’ve reached the end of May, 1985. The good players and the best teams are starting to separate themselves from the pack.
After 11 Starts (averaging over 8 IP per start), Dwight Gooden is third in the league with a 1.93 ERA despite a pedestrian 5-5 record. Super Hal still likes Tom Browning for the Cy Young so far, though Fernando is gaining a little support.

Division races are starting to take shape now, too. I’ve watched other 1985 Strat-o-Matic replays and the Cubs seem to consistently over-perform their real-life record. We’ll see if this holds up. The Reds leading the NL West isn’t too surprising, as they did duel the Dodgers throughout 1985 for the division. I’m looking forward to races in both divisions.
