Thank You, Secret Santa!

I couldn’t have asked for a better gift from my Secret Santa! I received the 2015 English Pro League and the new International Football Legends sets for Soccer Blast. Can’t wait to play a few games with these cards! I’m thinking I’ll do a 2014-15 Arsenal replay with the EPL cards and I’ll somehow incorporate the Football Legends into my Universal Soccer Confederation league that I started a while back with the WFA (fictional) cards. Thanks, Secret Santa! I can’t wait to start seeing the other gifts that will be arriving in mailboxes around the country this month. To all … Continue reading

SUPER BOWL BET: vs. After Further Review w/Steve Tower

Since Steve Tower started publishing his weekly tabletop-sports show After Further Review with Steve Tower, I’ve enjoyed, supported and tried to help promote just about everything he’s done. I think the show has been a wonderful and much-needed addition to our hobby community. In 2013, in fact, AFR w/ST earned the newly created “Best New Tabletop-Sports Video Blog” award. Those who have purchased the Winter 2014-15 issue of Print Edition may have noticed that AFR’s spin-off game review show, “Under the Hood” also earned an award in 2014. But if I have one great criticism of Steve’s show, it’s … Continue reading

Thank you, Thierry!

With the announcement that he’ll be leaving New York Red Bulls (and speculation that he’ll be returning to Arsenal in some capacity), Thierry Henry leaves MLS as one of the greatest players to ever grace the league. I have a severe bias toward Henry, since I’ve been an Arsenal supporter as long as I’ve been following football, but to my eyes there has never been another player as graceful, creative, smart, and beautiful as Henry. It’s been a joy to watch him all these years. Once or twice a generation there is a player that you think to yourself, “someday … Continue reading
