From the APBA Games website:
With the upcoming Women’s Soccer Gold match between Japan and the United States, APBA has made available the 2011 Women’s World Cup cards for these two teams. The Olympic teams are not identical to the World Cup teams, but most of the major stars are on both the Olympic and World Cup teams. Pre play the game tonight at home with your friends and family. You can download the files from our Downloads page–just scroll down to the Soccer section.
What a great gift this is to those of us who enjoy APBA Soccer and have been following the US Women’s National Team at the Olympics. I thought about pre-playing the game but decided to wait until after the match, so that I could use the actual lineups each team fielded. Here are the actual lineups for each squad:
Since the cards are actually the 2011 Women’s World Cup cards, the lineups are slightly different. Every American woman who played in the match is represented in the downloadable cards, however, though you miss out on a few who were dressed and eligible but didn’t get into the game. Notably, Heather Mitts and, my favorite player, Seattle Sounders Women First Team Striker Sydney Leroux (her twitter is awesome).
On the Japanese roster, you might think that the only player card missing in the APBA download is Yuki Ogimi. However, Yuki Ogimi IS Yuki Nagasato. She got married between the 2011 World Cup and the 2012 Olympics, and took her husband’s name. My ‘shopped version of her card is below if you want to use this one for your replay.
If you missed the real-life game and want to watch it in its entirety, it is streaming for free on NBCSports.com.
