PC Replay Baseball Video

I’ve played a lot of baseball simulation games over the past couple of years. I haven’t played a lot of baseball simulations on PC, however, so I can’t claim to be an expert on that subject.

Of the games I have played and demos I’ve watched, I haven’t found a game that utilizes the power of a computer while still replicating the C&D experience on the tabletop better than PC Replay Baseball.

If you’re interested in the PC Replay game at all – or if you just enjoy following other people’s replays and/or games – definitely take 18 minutes to watch the video below, by youtuber “kingichiboo.”

The video below is a recording of the last three innings of a game between the 1906 Cubs and 1909 Tigers Pirates, played on the PC Replay Baseball game. Ed Reulbach is on the mound and hasn’t allowed a hit through 6 when the recording picks up. Kingichiboo provides an entertaining play-by-play while you get to watch and see how it turns out.

Can Reulbach pull off a no-hitter against Ty Cobb and the World Champion 1909 Detroit Honus Wagner and the World Champion 1909 Pirates club? Let’s find out!

  1. 1 – I think it does a good job of replicating C&D action
    2 – I’d still absolutely prefer playing with C&D
3 – I’m pretty sure Ty Cobb had no chance to break up this no-hitter πŸ˜›

  2. great video, I’m a Strat guy but Replay definitely looks like a good game. I liked how he played the game and let the viewer figure it out, instead of going through rules -just jump in and see it, mostly this was easy to do. I see the 6 columns 3 dice and somehow the pitcher influences the roll or not but has not direct roll on his card. I don’t know if accuracy, research etc would match Strat but the game looks very playable and at minimum decent replication and as far as computer look -design far better than Strat. The pics of players especially dead ball players was awesome, I like Replays use of card on screen better than Strat and and the ease of how the results were highlighted. The fact they have a tool to video a game on a moments notice is blowing my mind- wow just wow. Clearly they have a wide array of teams available-very sharp cool presentation. I wanted the computer manager to pinch hit for pitcher but realized in that era they probably would not have even in a no hitter.

  3. Pretty neat. I’m a C&D guy and never liked the adding in Replay. This PC version solves that.

  4. It was cool to watch this. I like seeing the faces, but I don’t think computer play will ever take over in my home. Good job announcing with this.

  5. Dave Koch’s Action PC Baseball is way better. Are you sure you have played them all ?

    • Hi Jason – thank you for the comment. No, I haven’t played them all, but I am aware of Action PC. There are a number of demo videos of the game on youtube, so I have seen the game in action.

As a computer baseball simulation, Action PC looks amazing. What I like about Replay PC, however, is the way the card & dice version of the game is integrated into the computer experience so that it really feels like you’re playing the C&D game on your screen. Action PC doesn’t give that same feel, though I have no doubt that it is a lot of fun to play in its own way. It’s just that there are a lot of computer baseball games out there, and I personally am much more impressed by C&D games that I can play on the computer over computer games that do all the dice rolls and chart lookups behind the scenes.
